this wednesday, july 24th!



you are invited to

a party (series) inspired by

the 1932 film shanghai express,

about an eccentric cast of characters

traveling from peking to shanghai.  each

soirée takes place at a different stop along

the imagined route of that train. this time,

we’ll be stopping over in a subterranean

japanese speakeasy, somewhere in

the city of Tokyo, in early

1930‘s  japan.




          








































WHAT:

a most decadent soirée

with live music, dancing, cocktails,

and intriguingly glamorous

fellow guests.

8:30pm to 12:30am

wednesday, july 24tth.



WHERE:

a clandestine club in

1930's tokyo known for its

international and glamorous

following; a mix of political

figures, actors, writers,

and artists.

MUSIC & PERFORMANCE:

the amazing CARTE BLANCHE

will play an international mix of american,

latin, and french jazz and pop from the 1930s.

classical japanese dancer YURIKO MIYAKE

will perform throughout the evening.









ATTIRE  &  GUESTS:

attire is high glamour, dressy

vintage, 1930‘s evening or cocktail

attire, international attire, vintage drag,

eclectic costume, or however you might have

dressed for an evening at a secret, underground

nightclub in pre-war tokyo. fellow guests might

include famous geishas, american journalists,

foreign dignitaries, international spies,

double agents, tokyo high society,

french movie stars, and

jazz musicians.







TICKETS & TABLES:

advance admission is $29,

and “night of” tickets will be $35 at

the door, if available. additional table options

have just been added. reserved seating

areas are recommended.

LOCATION / FOOD / BAR:

the evening will be at the

ALLEY CAT . . . a sexy, subterranean,

japanese influenced speakeasy style club. it’s

in a former mechanical basement of the beautiful

beekman hotel in the financial district. the club has

japanese inspired cocktails {and some non-alcoholic

cocktails as well}, as well as beautiful small plates

by super star chef tom colicchio. you’ll be able

able to order from both menus. you can

enter the club through the hotel,

but coming from the alley

is so much more fun.
